The Huawei Mate 8 Android smartphone was produced by Huawei as part of the Huawei Mate series. The Mate 8 was released in China in November 2015 and globally in early 2016. The Mate 8 was available in gold, silver, grey, and brown variants.

The Mate 8 has a 6.0-inch Gorilla Glass display and an aluminum back and frame. The Mate 8 includes a 16-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The phone was sold with 32 GB of internal storage and 3 GB of RAM or 64 GB of internal storage and 4 GB of RAM. The Mate 8 and its successor, the Mate 9, both include a 4,000 mAh non-removable battery. Both phones can also support expandable internal storage with MicroSD cards up to 256 GB. The Huawei Ascend Mate 7, the Mate 8’s predecessor, actually has a larger 4,100 mAh non-removable battery, though the dimensions of both phones are nearly identical.

The Mate 8 features fast-charging capabilities and a rear-positioned fingerprint sensor. It also includes accelerometer, gyro, proximity, barometer, and compass sensors.

While reviews found that the Mate 8 had clunky software, a less-than-impressive camera, a low-resolution display, and average speakers, the Mate 8 has been praised for outstanding battery life and above-par performance.
